It is very rare, if you do maintenance services regularly to an engine, that it's going to need work. Don't buy a used motorhome that hasn't been checked thoroughly before purchasing. If so, then take a mini-vacation by car or plane until it's done. It really is no big deal.
Having full-timed for 16 years and being around full-timers constantly during that time, we have never heard of anyone having extensive repairs that would keep you out of living in your home. For the smaller repairs or maintenance, the facilities will always let you spend the night, if necessary and most often with electric. If they know it's your home they'll work with you.
