When we bought our '02 Georgetown in 2010, we bought it from the original owner just 35 miles from home - very fortunate. He had done a very good job of record-keeping. It had just under 12,000 miles on it and 45 hours on the generator.
We used it for three fairly busy seasons (about 2000 miles each season). For several months during the year of our golden wedding anniversary we used it as supplemental sleeping room while parked in the driveway and only made one trip.
The seasons we used it were those with $4.50/gallon gasoline and we realised we were dipping into our IRAs to keep using it. We sold it in the fall of 2014. We miss it some, but at 76, I'm not interested in getting another one. Since we live in a seaside town where people pay good money to come and stay, there's less incentive to get away than other places we've lived.
Those years were bad..fuel cost wise.... That was when we decided that our dream of traveling the country in an RV was probably not going to happen. We had a tt at the time and all the way up until the time we moved to Charleston SC, 4yrs ago. The first couple of years we were here we were still tourists, but the bug has bitten me again and we need to do this sooner than later for the same age reasons. Husband is 69 (I'm 62). Just want to see as much as we can for a couple of years and get it out of my system.
