We looked at a 36UA at the Mpls RV show. And we looked at it again after comparing it closely to the nearby Newmar Canyon Stars on display. Sorry--but the Allegro 36UA is definitely a bit higher in quality. Those exterior baggage doors alone on the Tiffin were incredible! Just like a well made solid car door. I couldn't get Newmar's to click and stay shut, even on their high end DP's which was really disappointing to me based on my Newmar expectations.
And the Allegro cabinets were definitely a step up or so from Newmar's. Very solid and well made. The basement storage also blew us away. I don't understand how Tiffin gets so much storage space in the Allegro when compared to Newmar and Winnebago (especially Winnebago which seems to have the smallest of the 3 on their gas coaches).
Don't get me wrong, the Newmar's were also nice, especially when compared to the Forest River and Winnebago products we looked at. But it was readily apparent that for a gas coach the Tiffin Allegro seems to be the best. It seems like Newmar's real focus is on their DP's which I would probably lean towards for a DP due to their sidewall construction and the comfort drive feature.
The 36UA was an interesting floor plan although I didn't like the smaller couch when compared to the 36LA. I want a couch for my afternoon nap that I can stretch out on! But if you need bunk beds it is the Allegro floor plan I would go for. We are leaning heavily towards the 34PA but the 36LA is still in the running.
The 36UA we looked at had stacked W/D's in the rear bathroom. The national Tiffin rep told us you can order it with the stacked or with a combo depending on how much of that big counter space you want in the back bathroom. That nice back bathroom with the other 1/2 bath and the fireplace is what we really like about the 36LA/36UA floorplans. I wish they could have fit a fireplace in the 34PA under the TV but the Tiffin rep told us they didn't have quite enough space.
Go with the Tiffin if you want top quality. But I would buy used, a year or two old. I personally want to avoid that initial steep depreciation with a Class A.
On the bold; the sidewall construction is the same for the gassers as it is the DPs. Also a big thumbs up for Comfort Drive - it's the best kept secret in the motorhome industry. :B
It's unfortunate the doors didn't seem to be properly adjusted as well.
