When I want to sell something, I don't play games. I set a firm price, take it or leave it. I set what I think is a reasonable price, usually lower than the going market price to almost assure a sale to someone.

I'll just quote this one since it's the most recent as of now, but I appreciate all of your responses.
If they asked 50k, I might not have stepped inside. I looked at this one because I thought 45k was a starting point. In fact, when the sales person told me about it on the phone, before it had even come in to the dealership, she told me they wanted 40k. Then, as she claims, the financial guy said to ask for more. I guess that's what makes me want to haggle a bit...it started at 40k, and then went up before I had even seen it!
Also, I just kind of assumed that negotiating was the name of the game. I suppose it may very well be a fair price, but it's just on the upper end of what I was looking to spend. I guess we'll see if the financing goes through. :)
