Certainly it can be done. The purpose of the dinette is something to consider. If you want seating for four, with a large spacious table from the wall out, and an easy system for lowering the table into a bed, I would suggest you google "Dream Dinette".
However you may want a wrap around dinette and want to put little ones along the wall side of the table. The table top becomes smaller, but there is seating for one or two smaller people.
