Cost of services

Hi there,

I brought the E450 (year 2003) a local shop in Southern CA for oil change and I was recommended the following services: brake fluid, differential fluid, serpentine belt replacement. Since I am the second owner of the RV (with no knowledge of when the last maintenance was performed) and I have used the RV for more than a year, I agreed to the recommended services.

Here is the bill I received. Please note that the labor and parts are charged separately (above and below). Are these charges reasonable? Thanks

Thank you all for your replies.

gbopp, I believe they only drained and refilled the transmission. I only asked to change the transmission fluid.

Okay, that's better than not changing the fluid. And yes, I think the prices are very reasonable.

    Enjoy your travels.
  • Is that serpentine belt just the "fan" belt? not the one that should be changed at 50-90,000 or so?

cgmartine, I did ask for synthetic oil. They quoted me regular oil first, but I asked for synthetic oil. I plan to change oil once every 1 and a half year (we drive around 4000 miles a year).
  • Reasonable prices and labor charges.

I think you got away rather cheap compared to some labor charges I read about and parts were reasonable as well.
  • VERY REASONABLE !!! With the high labor rate for RVs here in So Cal you got a real deal.
I had my 100000 mile check done and the same parts and fluids were about the same but the labor was more.I would keep this shop if they have a good warranty on their work,my shop has a 2 year one.
  • All in law, the amounts are not too out of line, and probably less than in other places. Did you specify they fill engine oil with synthetic oil, which is more expensive that regular oil? Also, did you ask them to drain the differential, instead of just topping it off? For comparison, I paid $135.39 at Meineke for a tranmission flush (fluid and labor).
  • They only drained and refilled the transmission? No filter cleaning/replacement?
