Cowcatchers

I installed a brush guard/cowcatcher on my pickup to protect it when animals ran in front of me and it has saved me expensive repairs several times! So my question is do they make them for motorhomes to protect the front of them? Sure would save a lot of money in repairs!
  • I don't know if you could do it on a motorhome. frame rails to attach it to. I would love to install one myself.

  • I couldn't resist! I too have wondered about those for RV's! I would think it would need to be a custom job but then there are logistics, like how to access the hood area, etc.
  • I feel your concern. We have traveled in several states where there is "open range" which means that cattle, sheep, etc are free to roam the land, which includes the highways. Quite often you will see animals grazing right at the side of the road and naturally they usually decide to cross the road right when you are driving by. We have had several close calls. This is the hazards of driving the back roads and seeing ALL of the beauty of this country. To fit a bumper to your MH may require a custom design.

With this group of cattle the close one just glanced at us and continued to relieve herself. Not really concerned about a large motor home driving by a few feet to the left. Cattle that size could disable most motor homes or do a lot of damage to the diesel generator on a DP.
  • OK Now I understand. YOU are the guy who keeps leaving those animal smear marks on the road and body parts scattered all over. :)
