Insurance in Virginia covers cracked/broken windshields, too. You may find this pretty universal, as insurance companies WANT you to be able to SEE where you are going, and anything that interferes with that is counterproductive as far as they are concerned. So I'd call my insurance company as see what they have to say about it.
