While I have long been a diesel fan going back to the 1960's (MB's, Peugeot, VW, Nissan Sentra and three different DP's), bottom line is that I suspect that Nissan/Cummins have an agreement as to who gets the engine. That is certainly how they worked with Dodge on the B engine.
So, whether it would be a good idea (I agree) or not, doubt you will see it in a Chevy or Ford.
