In my case it's because of where I store it. It gets almost no sun on the sides or back. I also cover the TT during the winter.
The stickers on the front started failing within a couple of years because they get sun all afternoon. So I removed them and had the front cap painted.
I used Turtle Wax and Meguiars to wax.
