Keep looking. Don't make it your problem. There are a lot of units available that don't have those problems.

I broke a hot water heater elbow and cracked the dash on I 80 in PA on a trip.

It could certainly happen. Just driving on most interstates is like being in an earthquake as far as your RV is concerned.
