The second mode senses use of hot water and within ten seconds the system switches to providing heat to the hot water system (not the heating circuits.. As otters have mentioned, if you are not familiar with the system, get in contact wish Rodger Burke for service, parts, and very competent service advice. Rodger has done work for me and hundreds of forum members on the West Coast so I would really recommend him.
This past year we were not in an area to contact Rodger so we ordered some annual service parts from him and a couple tools he has developed.
Having the parts, special tools and great directions from Rodger saved us over $400. from what we would have paid a the local R & R service place.
