That depends on which Aqua-Hot model you have. On mine (400D) it cuts off space heating to favor water heating using both electric and diesel. I understand that on at least some larger models (which you probably have) it can do both at once, due to larger capacity.
The OP is probably at destination by now, but we find that a little space heater from Wal-Mart is a handy thing to carry in cold weather -- useful if other heat were to go out, but also just for spot heating the rear bath at shower time, etc.
