Thanks Ivylog. I arrived home this morning (Christmas) and fortunately the DW loves it. Thank goodness for that, would have been ugly otherwise.
This is my ninth motorhome over 40 years, and my first tag. I like the heavy ride and definitely see the improvement with trucks coming from the opposite direction. Really don't even notice them. I do find that regardless of the tag or the weight, however, a heavy side wind is still a wheel chase to keep in my lane. Had a fair amount of 20 to 30 mph crosswinds in Texas and New Mexico and it definitely wears you out, tag or not.
But what I really liked was the 1850# of torque the 600 ISX puts out. Not one truck had a chance, and a lot a cars and pickups were encouraged to move over when it came to the long hill climbs. It was easy to maintain 70 uphill in all but the most aggressive grades I encountered in the 3100 mile trip home.
But that is still not the biggest epiphany I had. That goes to the Jake Brake. Now I have had two Jakes and four Pac Brakes over the years, but all on ISL's or smaller. Put a Jake on a 912 cu. in. ISX and you might just as well throw away the brakes except for coming to a stop. I was amazed that the Hi level is enough to throw you forward in your seat when the down shifts occur. Cubic inches is where it's at, just like everyone has always told me.
Anyway, while digressing, it is good to be home but I am definitely ready to return to Arizona at the end of next week.
Mike, I have a 600 AquaHot and will get to looking at it tomorrow to hopefully see what is going on.
Merry Christmas everybody, and thanks for all your help.
