Remove the upper vent cover, take a picture and post it here, please.

You should be able to see the top of your cooling fins inside the vent. You'll want to put the fan near those fins, blowing air toward the outside, toward the vent.

While you have the vent open, also make sure the inner vent area is well sealed from the rest of the trailer (use some silver hvac tape), so hot air can't leak into the roof space, or otherwise gather above the fins.
