OP, I'd say Jplante4 summed it up very well. Too many stories of the new MH blues where it's in for repairs more than it's used. A lot of the problem is no one wants to accept responsibility and pay for the repair... they just pass the buck.
You need to forget the car hauler and get something that can be towed four down.
"Unless you want to be on the California coast without a reservation on a weekend in the summer"... this is probably true of any size rig, but on Monday you'll be surprised at the number of empty sites. We have found that boondocking M-F and then traveling and resupply on the weekends works well for us. I use thissite for finding public CGs as it's on a map... no need to know the name of the towns.
My favorite USFS CG in the Tetons says 26' MAX. There is one site you can get a 45' and a car hauler on and two more that I can get my 42' on while most would not even try to. Yes I have some scratch's from limbs but I bought it to use, not look at... another reason for buying used. Most of the places I stay at are self serve and you put your money in a collection tube so no reservations.
I admit to being biased towards Monaco's 10 airbag MHs because of their good handling. Monaco's customer service has been good during the various owners. If I had to replace my Monaco Dynasty I'd probably go for something like this but with fewer miles for the same price.
Good luck in your search. PM me if you have questions.
