I think I am set on at least a 42' and I will just have to deal with the ineligibility as I encounter it. After much thought I feel the floor plan and space we want supersedes the odd site we will have to avoid.
If you find that your 42ft. coach of choice requires a tag axle, I'd strongly consider going with a 45ft rig or drop back to a 40ft and save all the extra costs and maintenance. Tags are nice, but really don't think you'll suffer any ill effects without one.
I was initially considering a 40' unit but we really plan on driving and the feedback I have heard form many that have owned a tag and non tag unit is that they would not go without one again. I am considering 45' coaches too but as you know the price just keeps going up! I have to try and stick with the ole budget.
Dropping back a year or two or three, always makes the budget work for us and especially with so many nice used coaches out there with low mileage that don't look like they've ever been out of the driveway in some cases.
