Perfect timing. I am plugged into the 50 amp service outside the Cummins dealer in Albany New york. My regen light has been acting hinky for the last couple of hundred miles. It managed to do a regen so I hoped all was well.
It is not. I had it towed yesterday because the limp mode would only allow about 12 mph.
Now the bad news. It appears my extended warranty is not going to cover it unless something else caused it to fail.I bought the highest level of coverage but they seem to not cover (exhaust parts). I see it as an emission part. Perhaps the failure of the sensor caused the filter to******out.
They removed it this morning and cleaned it to the tune of about $800. After the reinstall the pressure sensor did not work so it was replaced. We are now plugged in again waiting for a new dpf filter tomorrow and I sure hope that fixes it.
Fortunately the expensive tow was covered. The 4-5K repair probably won't be covered.
One thing that concerned me was the technician asking for the ECM password. Why on earth would I have something like that?
One thing that could have hurt it was driving with it trying to regenerate on terrible roads. Perhaps with the heat it is more sensitve to craters. There were some terrible roads.
