Diesel pusher go over 50 mph?

I hope someone can help me here. I have a 1994 Holiday Rambler diesel pusher 8.3 at first and noticed it being a little sluggish and watching the boost gauge the temperature went up pretty fast but the boost was staying normal. We took it camping over the weekend. And everyting seemed ok. After we got and cleaned it out we want to bring back to storage. I couldnt get it over 50mph and the temp on the turbo was going up.could this be water in the fuel?

No increase in boost pressure.........cracked/leaking hose air side of turbo to intake or faulty wastegate

X2 I would first check all hoses to and from turbo for tightness and or cracks. I had a loose hose on my pickup and had the same symptoms your having.

Could be leaking charge air cooler too. Need tech to see WHY it is not building boost, and get that fixed. Then, see if problem solved.

I would change fuel filters too. Cheap. Cause lots of low power problems. If not enough fuel, will not build boost either, as engine will not spin up enough to do so.

  • I had the same thing happen with an over the road tractor. What we finally found was the inside of the muffler had come apart and was clogging the exhaust.

  • I doubt if it's just water. Usually water causes hesitation or rough running. It could be clogged fuel filters or a clogged air filter, or other things.
