Don't have any real life experience with diesel stove, however, did have the opportunity to talk with the couple at

when they were in Halifax on a shake down cruise. She was not a fan of the diesel stove in their Unimog GXV extreme earth type roamer RV. I didn't ask for details, but if I remember correctly it had something to do with the way it heated up and cooled. It might be more that it was time consuming? I think they went all diesel because in some places diesel was available and propane would not be.
