We are told that a 2013 Malibu with auto tranny can be towed 4-down. I look on the 2013 Dingy tow guide and Malibu is not listed. The dealer checked and was told it can be towed. What is the real deal...

The point to remember is that the dealer/salesman will not know about RV towing. Read the Dingy tow guides, owners manual, then call the factory..
