I live in a non gated 55 and over subdivision, and a lot of the homeowners are snowbirds too, with RV pads next to their homes as well. The RV gone from my house pales in comparison to the obvious unoccupied home because NOTHING is left outside and the weeds are getting out of control. I have outdoor cameras on my home, and motion detector's, W/security monitoring sign. Not much you can do beyond that, the best protection is a good insurance policy, and good neighbors, as quite a few of the homes are empty during the summer. Anything valuable and important travels with us. That would be the only disadvantage to me, as I love being able to access my RV at anytime, and it's ready to go.
