Check with your local constable or police office to see if they have an out of town/ vacation service. I call my local P.D. and tell them we are headed out of town and any time an officer on our beat has a little down time they will swing through the neighborhood. Heck many times at the end of a shift they will sit in my driveway and finish up there daily paperwork. An armed officer of the law sitting in your driveway is a good deterrent.
And using your logic on the other methods, having a cop sitting in your driveway ONLY deters when he is there. Any criminal watching knows that as soon as he leaves, he will not be back for a LONG time. :B
Most camera systems connected to the internet will send an email message to you as soon as motion is detected. Then you can view your system and see if action is required.
