Discontinued Part Search help needed

Part Needed but can not find online.
1996 Class A Rexhall 32' RV with Ford F53.

Part need is AC / heater 5 button control switch that mounts on the dash. Part number 3500501.
Ford says it's not their #. Local Jeep/Chrysler store says it's a 69-73 number which doesn't make any sense for a 1996 RV.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

John

I found the part at Comfort Air - Dave 616-454-2200.

  • Verify what manufacturers used the control. Then google that car companies name and NOS (new old stock) and start calling companies specializing in that brands obsolete parts. If they don't have the part, ask if they know who might. Some companies are very helpful and have a database indicating where the part is available.

Actaually using a 60's part in a 90's RV makes sense for the HEVAC control, they have not changed much in many decades.

Try junkyards both RV type and JEEP type.. or try JC Witney if its a Jeep part they have a lot of old jeep stuff.
  • It could well be a Chrysler part that the manufacturer of the home got from the original manufacturer.
There is another thread somewhere about the motorhome lights being off a 90's crown Victoria.
So do not discount Chrysler as a source.

You can browse control images Here

And you could try salvage yards such as Visonerv.com or Colaws.com

Quite often the COACH manufacturers will use left over/discontinued parts that they buy from the auto/truck manufacturers. Many coaches use headlights from trucks and automobiles manufactured years before the coach was built. Since this is a dash switch, not supplied or built be Ford,it is entirely possible that it could be a Chrysler part. If you can pull the switch out, you should see a logo to signify who manufactured it and you may also find a part number on the switch itself.
