Used to have an R4, and did get it to work, though it was always more hassle than it was worth. Even when it worked, it was a pain, and it rarely worked well.
I bought a Winegard Trev'ler from PPL for just under $1200 shipped, put it on myself, and it always works, always finds 110 / 119 / 129 within minutes (unless I'm deep under a tree...)
When we went full time, I put the vip211k in it's box and put it under the bed.
Our hopper from our former S&B's found a home in the media cabinet, along with the transmitter for our wireless joey, which found it's home in the bedroom.
Don't tell Dish, they do not support any DVR's in moving vehicles, but this setup works EXTREMELY well in the RV. I especially like the wireless Joey, as it didn't need me to reconfigure any of the original cabling going to the rear TV.
I do have that 211k for sale if anyone wants it.
FYI, regarding Dish support for the Hopper in a MH. They didn't have any problem installing a Hopper and Joey in my MH a couple of years ago. Granted there has not been any problems so I can not attest to there support but the happily take my money.
