The area is called Mount Rushmore. (Mount = Mountain) One close by city is named Hill City. It is in the Black Hills, a mountain range in its own right with the highest peak over 7200 feet. (Harney Peak)
Compared to the Rockies, not too much but on a peddle bike the area would be a challenge to casual bikers.
On a motorbike or in a sports car the roads would be fun!
Trust me, it's not part of the flatlands.
I started a post in different thread about the mountain pass grades in that area. The mountain directories I have do not list SD. So when someone said there are mountain passes in this area, I wanted to know where for driving purposes (not biking).
