We took a few trips without the toad when I was still installing the baseplate, etc. We made it work, but my wife and I both agreed that we were limited on our sightseeing without the toad. As an example, during our recent visit to Yosemite, we chose to stay outside the park and drive the toad in each day. This allowed us a lot of flexibility in the sights we saw, and peace of mind of not having to drive the A around a busy tourist area. But with the toad, it does add an element of concern. I keep the rear view camera on at all times, and it seemed like I was constantly glancing at it. In terms of MPG, I cant explain it, but my MPG was better with the toad. It may be that I was going slower.
