I think the overarching point is this; There was a water overflow installed on the RV. It didn't work. I think some people are confusing this with enabling willful disregard of the task. But that's not the issue here. The issue is whether or not the overflow installed on the RV was engineered to actually perform the task it was designed for. The answer is no. Fail. We could go on all day with straw man arguments about what if, and what else can we ignore etc. But the fact is, a system designed for a specific purposed failed at performing that purpose.
You insist on a system designed for people that ignore it during the filling process.
Most all of the rest of us just pay attention to what we are doing and any kind of an overflow lets us know when to turn off the water.
From reading the various posts on this forum through the years, what happened with this overflow is not a big issue. Most owners pay attention to what they are doing AND read their owner's manual. My manual includes a very simple statement that all should understand. It says "When filling tank do not leave the hose unattended". Not complicated and most people should be able to understand what it says, and not worry too much about the consequences if they don't monitor it. I have never experienced what happens to my coach if I left the hose run attended and don't intend to find out.
Nope, not at all. You missed the point again. What I expect is a system designed for a purpose to actually be able to perform it. I am not suggesting enabling willful disregard. I am saying that something installed on an RV for a task, should work. It's pretty simple. I can say it again if you like. My overflow works, as does many others. This didn't. It should have. Forget how or why it happened. The point is, mechanically it's there. Mechanically it didn't work. I am not suggesting a system to promote willful disregard nor do I condone it. I do expect things installed to work as expected. There I said it again.
