We always carry a spare. On our Alaska trip we broke a steel band on a rear inside tire...went bald on one side. Found that out on Labor Day Weekend while staying at Talkeetna. Put on the spare and went looking for a replacement after the holiday. Finally found one at a Costco in Anchorage.
