It really depends on where you camp at what kind of CG's you stay at. I usually camp in NF or SP type CG's. I store wood in my slide out storage all the time when I camp in state at SP's, I am not worried about termites. When traveling out of state I store oak blocks from pallets to cook on but not firewood as in logs. I also carry an electric chain saw to cut up dead wood in that local area for camp fires. As others have said some states don't want you transporting wood that may contain beetles or other tree destroying insects.
