The only time I've see an case of borrowing a RV was a friend of mine (former cow-orker) who had a Roadtrek, except had a number of issues with it. I fixed the generator, sanitized the plumbing, and did some other fixes to it. He then offered to loan the rig to me for a few weeks. I placed the RV on my insurance (as a motorhome, full coverage, length of the time used + a month), then went out on vacation.
Needless to say, it went back to the guy who owned it much cleaner than before, since I took it to a "B" service center because I found some small issues I couldn't fix (new macerator pump impeller, coil cleaning on A/C).
Now, I get asked to take his motorhome out sometimes, although it becomes an expensive proposition since I end up taking it to a RV place to get it fixed on my dime (only fair, since I don't ever want to return it in worse shape.)
So, if one is honorable, borrowing a motorhome is also expensive as well.
