Heating and cooling is dependent upon the quality of insulation. I had a 36' Coachmen and it was a task to cool it with both chassis and house A/C going in 90* weather. I checked the insulation over the cockpit area behind the cabinets and there was no insulation and very little in the ceiling and walls. The quality of insulation depends upon the quality of the coach. I have learned that to buy cheap is to get cheap and pay through the nose trying to make it comfortable.
Our current Newmar never requires more than the chassis A/C or chassis heater to make the coach comfortable traveling in all temperatures. It is built for 4 season use.
The comparison was from using both RVs from coast to coast and in 40 plus states over a couple decades.
The majority of RV are built for occasional use in comfortable weather.
