Do you tow with your B?

Living in the Pacific NW, boy did we tow with our '05 Roadtrek 170. In order to camp throughout the year (doesn't snow much here) which means a lot of camping in the rain, the B was too small for us to wait out the rain, and particularly when we took our teenage grandson with us. So we bought a 24' Rainer TT. The 6.0 engine in the Trek had no problem at all towing, uphill downhill and flat. Still got 10-11 mpg, 17, solo. Due to recession had to sell it but are now looking for another one.

Almost any van RV can tow a small car. I have sold my rig but am looking for a later model Class B.

3500 lbs ROLLING on wheels is just that...3500 lbs. So dont say it cant tow a car...its just has to be a small car is all.

I can tel ya this much...driveing a "SmartCar" 3 miles to the grocery and back is a heck of a lot easier that walking 3 miles both directions!

Travato specs Specs say 3500 lbs with caveats. Try class B Facebook page. The proprietor has had three Travato's.

Ok. You want to know if a Travato can tow a car. Quick answer. No. Mercedes can but what's the point ?

Mine is only 19' and I will park in handicap spots if there is room. If not I will park in the far end of the lot and use my electric Travelscoot to go shopping. My only problem with that is the small tray to hold purchases.

Never towed anything. Hookup to electric only unless staying for a while, then water and elect. only, have never hooked up to a sewer. We never rented a car with our old Excel but have rented cars in big cities several times with our new Pursuit B+. Can also use Uber in town

When I tow, its only a small 6x10 trailer for my toys (giant scale RC airplanes and helicopters). What I love most about our Class B (21') is the convenience of its smaller size and 'go anywhere' capabilities. Having owned larger RVs in the past (A&Cs), I wanted something smaller to travel in and the Class B fits the bill perfectly. I've not felt the need to tow or rent.

As others have posted, we also just hook up water or sewer as need to fill or dump. So its really convenient to just unplug electric, and a few minutes stowing gear inside and you're on the road. Even more convenient is that we have our home with us all day while out sightseeing for using the bathroom, meals, relaxing break from activities, etc. Avoid real tight parking lots, or low overhead parking garages. I personally can't see any advantage to towing a car with a Class B. Even if you rented often, it would take a long time to recoup the costs of a toad, setup, lower gas mileage, etc.
