- garmpExplorer IIWe use an easy up by Quick Shade. Nice canopy, but heavy and not the quickest to set up. Doesn't fit nicely into our B+, so we only use it when we are going on a destination trip, like fishing for a week or so. When touring we use the awning, but am interested in the Gazelle popup. Have to check the shipping size, but it does have possibilities.
- camper19709Explorernope. awning only.
- SailingOnExplorerx2 for the Gazelle popup screen room: sets up in less than a minute, weighs 24#. Wife loves it as she is a mosquito magnet.
- AnonymousWe just use the awning that rolls out from our RV. We utilize the wooded areas of campgrounds. If there isn't any trees and it is a campground we want to return to, we make a note and would pack our 10'x10' pop up canopy for next time. We use citronella and bug spray for insects.
- photobugExplorerDepends on how long you're expecting to stay in one place. We use the 10x10 canopies for work and it only takes 1 person less than 5 min to set up (2 makes it easier though) The cheep ones are kind of fragile so you need to be careful with them. I used my personal one for our eclipse party a couple months ago. Kept the computer equipment out of the sun along with the chairs and tables for easy access overnight. I don't have a "dining room table" in my rv, but since we usually sit on the couch watching tv while eating even at home, it's not much of a loss. Having "walls" cuts down on the wind and glare while working on the computer as well. Good screening room for outdoor TV in the sun as well. Yes they are heavy and take up space, but I still run outdoor photoshoots in the rain because of them.
- pauldubExplorerNope, takes up way too much storage space in my little 24'C.
- bukhrnExplorer IIII have a canopy at home, but never take it with us, rarely even use it at home.
- phemensExplorerWe use a Gazelle pop up gazebo (similar in design to the Clam), goes up in a minute flat, same to take down, one person. Best purchase we made this spring, even if it’s pricier than a conventional Coleman or other, well worth the price for sheer convenience and design.
- rjf7gExplorerWe always set up our 10x10 (no screens) and pull our awning out when we are camping in the class B. I saw a clam for the first time this past weekend and am going to look in to getting one of them. Our 10x10 takes 3 people to set it up or break it down as it is.
- toedtoesExplorer IIII don't have an awning. I do have a canopy, but have only used it a couple times. Where I camp, it just isn't necessary. The couple times I did use it, I didn't find it that useful. If it rains, you have to dry it out afterwards which is a pain. The bugs still seem to get inside. And if it's really sunny, it seems to hold the heat inside.
If I had a group outing, then it would be of more use. But just for me and a friend or two, it's not useful.
