"shaneperch".......Plugs are more likely your issue, but double check the distributor cap and rotor. Often, the cap will crack between two plug wires and they will arc and cause the misfire.
When that engine is running right, it's a powerhouse. The problem is that most of them had Carter Thermoquad carburetors that were very hard to tune. Again, a dynamite carburetor when working properly. I would try and find a carburetor shop (not many around anymore) and have the carb rebuilt.
Lastly, run down to your auto parts store or Harbor Freight and buy a cheap compression tester (probably about $25.00). As long as you have the plugs out, do a compression test of all 8 cylinders. They don't need to be great, just even. This will let you know if you have a bad valve causing the misfire.
