Does ANYONE have this same EXACT door awning?

Ladies and Gents,
I'm having an issue with my over-the-door awning and, in doing research on how to remedy my issue, I'm having a hard time identifying just what model it is. All of the awnings on our coach, are electric. We have one for the patio, one for the slide out on the other side, one for the door and, one for the bedroom window. All of them are supposed to be the top of the line "Carefree".

They all have "Carefree of Colorado" as a large decal on each one. The door one, in our paperwork with the coach, is labeled as a "Mirage" model. But, the paperwork does not correspond with the actual awning. I have emailed Carefree and, while they (the one lady in Customer service) has done as much as she can in trying to help identify it, she's still way off.

She claims it is either a Marquee or, Freedom. Both of those, are nothing like what I have. And, the Freedom was produced for a while but, became the Marquee in later years. But in either case, those two versions, have what's called a "tubular motor". Where as the motor in ours, is a standard motor, almost identical to the Kwikee step motor and, our step slide motor.

Ours has no "limit" switches or, adjustments of any type for limiting the "IN" or, the "OUT" travel and stops, like other versions do.

Ours also has no provisions for manually retracting like some do. If the motor quits, and the awning is out, you're screwed unless you simply remove the awning from the coach. You can try and duct tape it I guess.

But, in any case, what I'd like from any of you is if, you have THE EXACT SAME DOOR AWNING, Not close, not "almost" but, EXACT, to tell me what any of your paperwork or, owners manual(s) tells you what the model it is and, have corresponding literature that proves what it is. Carefree has no records of producing any "Mirage", over the door awning. Yet, my literature or, owners manual says right on it,
Owners manual for Mirage, Over the Door Awning. And, inside that manual for mounting instructions, it refers to the awning as the Mirage, many times. Carefree does produce and, has produced the Mirage PATIO awning for years but, claims they never used the name Mirage in reference to an over the door awning.

These awnings were installed at the factory, on our coach. The build sheet stipulates all the awnings. But, again, something's not right because part numbers and serial numbers don't jive with what the lady at Carefree is looking at.

The coach is an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT. It is equivalent to the Winnebago Vectra of that same model/year. I'd sure appreciate any help here identifying it.

  • You might want to check FiammaUSA.com and give them a call. They may be the original manufacture. The were for the Dometic Oasis door awning.

Naturally it is a discontinued model so you MAY have to find any parts at eBay or another source.

    rg,
Well Sir, now we're getting close. As stated, I rummaged through many of what Carefree has/had to offer in terms of paperwork and PDFs but, I guess I just didn't hit the right ones. The nice lady at Carefree sort of insisted mine was a "Freedom or, Marquee" but, things were/are not the same as what I have. Now, one of the parts lists you sent does have my "Motor drive", labeled as an External motor.
This is one of those things that, I need to know what I have before I can start to analyze what's wrong with it. And, you've helped here. Thanks a heap.

    Chis,
I was under the impression that mine was also an "Oasis" too. But, like stated above, things just couldn't gel so, this is why I asked on here. And, so far, based on just how many have looked at my original thread and, seen the pictures I've posted, NO ONE has this same door awning. That doesn't mean I've got the only one on the planet that looks like what I've got. It simply means that so far, any that have looked at my pics, don't have one.

So, I thank you too for helping me here to narrow things down.

  • Just fyi, Scott, my 2005 Vectra has an A&E Oasis Elite door awning, so I can't help you with this one.
  • Have you contacted your manufacturer with the VIN number of your coach. They ought to be able to tell you exactly what they put on it. I know Tiffin has every part on my coach documented and I cannot imagine that Winnebago has done any less. They are an excellent company.
  • Try this Freedom model and scroll down to the EXTERNAL motor detail. Freedom awning
    And motor replacement details. Freedom

Check on the extended part of your awning and see if there is another label with the model numbers. Carefree has a habit of putting the label on the part that extends, rather than the part that is attached to the coach.
In any case, see if this will help. It just depends if yours was built before or after July 2010. Carefree Marquee

    rgatinjnet1,
I surely thank you for trying to help here. I have been to the Carefree site, more than a few times. I have dug through every possible owners manual, PDF, install manual, trouble shooting manual and like stated, even had/have, customer assistance working on it with me. And, as of now, I have yet to find my exact door awning, in any of Carefrees literature/phamphlets/manuals/brochures etc.

Yet, as you see in the pics, "Carefree of Colorado" is pasted clearly on it, as well as the rest of the awnings on our coach. This is odd, to say the least. And, as you stated, I'd need to see if it (our door awning) was built prior or after '10. Well, our coach is an '04 and, it came from the factory with those awnings on it. So, it would be a a safe bet that, the door awning was built prior to '10 when, I think that, the "Freedom" model was changed to the Marquee model.

But, when anyone looks at the Marquee, they can see it's no where near what mine looks like, in all phases. Especially in the motor department.
