Does serpentine belt run water pump 02 WH 8.1

I've been going through my new to me 2002 Winnebago Sightseer 27c with 8.1 WH P32 chassis. I haven't replaced the serpentine belt yet. Today I bought both a 103 and 108 inch spare, and a new tensioner. I won't have time to replace them before Friday's trip, but didn't want to travel without spares.

My question is does the serpentine belt control the water pump? If it does, I'm guessing I need to turn off the engine ASAP if it breaks.

It makes no noise, but I don't have much of a service history on this MH with 42,000 miles.

  • There should be only one belt that drives everything. 108 incher. If it brakes you also loose brakes if equipped with hydro boost working off the power steering pump.
  • I think on your P chassis you use the shorter belt and yes the belt does drive the water pump. My water pump is still going at 90,0000 miles. When the belt breaks on mine you lose power steering as well as the water pump so you are not going to want to drive very far.
