Great input everyone thank you!
I'm going to have to do more research into the CCC / OCCC. I've read conflicting things - like with water and passengers (two assumed) only 400# is left. Too low for me. Has made me wonder if Sprinters are chronically overloaded.
That one looks great - now I just need to hit the lottery! :)
I'm not going to claim I know what I'm talking about - never driven or had to park a MH but here's my thought process:
- Have been considering a DRW with a TC on top. Wheelbase IIRC is 172" and overall length a shade under 25'. I know these combos can fit just about anywhere (at least where I'd like to go)
- This led me to looking at C's about the same length
- The Sprinters have about same wheelbase and length, and some shorter Chevy / Ford based Cs are close (like the 2500TS mentioned... really thinking about that one)
- Our first TT was a 25' Rockwood. Fit that just about everywhere
- Changed to a 25' FW
- Next was a 30' FW. A bit more challenging to park and stop "anywhere"
- Now our 35' is not as easy. The "wheelbase" (hitch to tires) is longest of all and means a big swing to get around corners.
The 25/30/35 all towed the same going down the highway - relatively. Once I had to find a place to stop is where the big difference is.
I want a rig for NP hopping around the country (with no toad for in-town trips) so I'm trying to find the best compromise for us between maneuverability and interior space - and something the DW will also drive with both of us having less stress of driving. Towing the big beast we have now wears on me and I wouldn't think of taking it to AZ from here.
Hence my draw to the Sprinters as I read they have great road manners but want to keep an open mind...
Man this one really looks interesting. Just a bit longer ... but a floorplan I like and it doesn't seem huge, wheelbase isn't a mile long... I hope I can find some experiences people have with this one.
thank you I just looked up the W/I 29B. You're right it's just under 30' which I would have to get comfortable with but it's been around awhile and more affordable. I'm still looking for the FR equivalent, can't find their brochure archive (thought I had seen it yesterday but maybe I'm cross-eyed again).
Thanks everyone I hope there's more suggestions!
We're going to the local / regional RV show Friday and hopefully we'll get to see some things and learn. Thankfully we have some RV experience on what to look for but I want to see how my wife and kids react to the various choices... I'll update ya'll with what I find...

We loved the sprinters too until we did the arithmetic on cargo carrying capacities. By the time you list and weigh the gear (kitchen, linens, toys, clothing, tools) supplies, food people and water, the unit is way overweight. We just couldn't make it work for the two of us - I'd be shocked if it works for a whole family and come in at a total loaded weight under 11,030 lbs. Happy hunting!
I have a 2015 Winnebago View and with me in the rig and everything else except water, fresh food in the fridge, my wife and dog our rig weighs 9960. This leaves me over 1070# of capacity left. My water. wife, dog and fresh food well not overload it.

Forest River Solera 24R is a Sprinter chassis with a plan you describe, except the bed slides out the back of the rig rather than the side.

Here is a unit for sale with a good selection of photos Solera 24R

Maybe I'm missing something (quite likely), but I'm not sure I understand how a 25' class C has much better drivability than a 30-32' unit. ....

If you are willing to go to just under 30 foot length (just slightly more than those 24-26 numbered models that are actually 27-28 feet long) look at the two-slide floorplans from Forest River and Winnebago/Itasca, 2003-2008 or so. For these, sofa was in front slide, opposite a patio-side dinette, and queen in back slide. Winnebago put two seatbelts in dinette, two on sofa. Mine has seatbelts installed in all seven seating positions in the house, was not hard to do.
W/I model number was 29B; I know F-R had an equivalent because someone in our RV club bought one and used it for about six months before trading for the similar Winnebago.
