dometic error codes

have a dometic 1402 , getting error code 11 which reflects problem with heating element in freezer,,, so replaced the element , checked all fuses and all connections.. The unit works fine, i.e freezer and fresh food compartment. everything works,,, but cannot make the error code go away... someone says only dometic tech can make it reset.
does anyone have any suggestions to reset this?
  • Like Biscuit said above....try turning it off first...
But, as I understand it, error codes are stored in the board and will not clear until ALL power is disconnected.
  • 1. The most common code is ER13. I have replaced at least 2 dozen drain defroster foil tapes and EVERY TIME, once the bad part is replaced the code goes away. No reset ever needed
    2. Did you replace the 120 element at the back side rear? If so, That is NOT the defective part that Error code 11 refers too.
    3. If you replaced the correct freezer defrosting element and the code did not go away, either the new part is defective or you did not install it correctly.
    4. Is this the P/N you used? 3850675012 A Heating Element, Cooling Flange, Frzr.
    5. DOUBLECHECK fuse F4 (7.5 amp) Doug
  • What Doug said- error 11 simply senses no continuity (or power, if fuse is blown) on the defrost heater circuit. Could be bad connection, bad ground or blown fuse. As soon as it is corrected, the error should go away- no real reset needed, other than off and on.
  • Error codes (of course) are generated on a chip/cpu level. Removing power from these goes to default (unless computer is backed up by battery which on dometic it is not). As others have said try the shutoff method. Also check all of your wires leading to the control board for proper connection. Doug gave some great insight on other possibilities. I've had so much trouble with RV fridges that I only go with real fridges / dorm fridges in my coaches.
  • ok , I disconnected 12v, and 110, no help, tested the replaced unit and it works, checked all connections, all ok, and yes I have the correct part, my number matches exactly what dometic said as I got the part from them,, so any new suggestion.

You pulled and checked the dedicated fuse? 7.5 amp? Doug
  • yes checked and rechecked..
all works fine just cannot clear error codes
  • At this point, Dometic would send me a new defrost heater to plug in and see if the code goes away. Doug
