The refer will "run" on 120 with the LP detector OFF. The refer will NOT light, IF, You have a LP detector that has the 12 volt safety solenoid and the detector is OFF. Most Class A motorhomes built in the past 10 to 15 years do NOT install a LP detector with a solenoid shut off any more. You have a 1997 according to your profile. But, as the poster stated, he can hear the flame light and IF he had a LP detector shut off system, it would not light if turned OFF. Also, YOURS and all RV refers will have an indicator that will state if it does NOT light on LP. Doug
