Unless you know exactly what it needs in repairs, replacements and upgrades for safe and reliable driving and enjoyment, and you have the money to pay for parts and labor (or) you have all the skill...

Be prepared to regret not taking a thorough test drive before committing, new or used. I neglected that rule... but only once. It ain't gonna drive any better just because you signed a piece of paper.
