dual wheel spacing

Time to buy rear tires. May have to get 225/70/19.5 The all steel 8R 19.5 are getting tough to find. Would like to hear from you guys that are running 225 on the rear. Any problems???? Wheel spacing enough??? This would be on a 1991 p-series chassis, Pace arrow. Did a search but didn't come up with anything. thanks guys

  • Grandpere, did you install your 245 tires on the standard 6 inch wide wheels? Or did you get wider wheels? thanks

  • OK, sounds good so far. Anybody else out there running the 225/70 on the rear?? Any reasons not to run them??. Looking for the positives but want to know about the negatives as well. thanks

  • I skipped the standard 225/70r19.5 replacement for the 8r19.5 tires on our 87 Southwind and went straight to 245/70r19.5 tires. Same diameter and circumference as the 8r19.5 tires, just wider. no problems what so ever on the front or rear. And the handling is immensely better. The front is where the extra width of the 245s might be a problem but you will have no problems with the 225s front or rear.
