I get a kick out of those who just sit there and say "I figure that he just bought it..." or "I guess his hose broke...". You know, if you don't make an effort to talk to someone and teach them that what they're doing is wrong, the stupidity is just going to continue, right? If you witness something like this an just let it go without mentioning anything, to me that makes you just as ignorant as the person doing it.
No, it does not make me, "just as ignorant." I am not the worlds keeper. Last time I tried, "to talk to someone and teach them that what they're doing wrong," I almost got myself punched in the face for my efforts (this was at a dump station.)
The blame is on the dumper, not on the rest of us that are courteous, educated and responsible.
Like I said, to me it does make one just as ignorant. You know someone is doing something wrong, actually endangering numerous people health around them, sit there and do nothing? Maybe watch... laugh... take a sip of your beer.
I guess it all depends on how you approach someone doing this. If you approach them with the "What the blankety blank do you think you're blanking doing" attitude... yes, I can see you getting your lights punched out.
While you may be courteous, educated and responsible, to sit there and not make any attempt to properly educate someone who just might not even realize the impact of what they are doing is, in itself, irresponsible and one of the reasons why it seems that humanity as a whole is dumbing down - people are afraid to help where it may be needed. Just because someone isn't waving their hands around screaming doesn't mean help isn't needed.
While the blame is on the dumper in this instance, the next time this guy does it, you shoulder a part of it because you made no effort to educate them and passed any reponsibility whatsoever onto someone else.
