dying house water pump

We've never had wonderful pressure with our water pump, but now it''s worse. Checked all the obvious causes including removing the filter and checking the sink faucet where the problem is the worst (the kitchen is the farthest away from the pump)

The pump cycles as it should but the water pressure just isn't there. The bathroom is a bit better but not as strong as it should be. We have no issues with city water.

sooo... would declining pressure be a symptom of needing a new water pump?

  • Check and see if the pump is shutting off when you are running water. If so, it may not be a problem with the pump as much as clogged aerators on the faucets.
  • It was the pump. It was a pretty easy fix and amazing how much better the pressure is... Believe it's been malfunctioning since we bought the rig a year ago but the dealer of course said it was fine...
  • I am with you and would troubleshoot, and if that didn't work...I would get a new pump. Having installed a replacement before, not too bad and as long as the problem was within the pump, your problem will be solved!
  • We have an Aqua flow. Fifty psi 3 gal minute and quiet. Just make sure you have good sized wire for 10 amp and cooling air around it. Maybe even a small pancake fan, for times you might to wash the car in 100 degree heat. I don't know if we have a tank on it or not. Check with retailer. The big Prevost etc use aqua Flow or one of the real pump types with all kids of pressure and flow. Caost a good bit more. Check them out. Might as well get the best setup, If yure going to want to keep the MH for a while.
  • I'd check the faucet screen first. You can disassemble the pump and see if there is trash in the innerds. I had to do it 3 or 4 times on mine because of plastic shavings from drilling during the fresh water tank install. Finally had to put a filter in-line.
  • Check hose between fresh water tank and pump for kinks/obstructions
  • My pumps have either worked or not. Check to see if there is a small filter right next to the pump. Check to see if the debris screen right on the faucet output is plugged. Check to see if you have an under cabinet filter that is due to be changed.
  • Depending on what you want to invest, you can probably rebuild yours. Usually the valve assembly on the front of the pump goes bad.
  • Or just the pump design itself. Some can put out high pressure...and some cant
