electrical inverter

It has a "PACs 1500 inverter" I'm rescind it off it now. They were manufacturer installed. Still can't get it to work. The generator smokes a lot on startup with a hard start issue.?

that RV does not have and automatic transfer switch..
the cord in the outlet IS "the transfer switch"

cord in oulet for generator power
cord in campground power pole ..for shore power

you have a "CONVERTER only" for battery charging..and 12v for lights etc.. when using shore power or generator

NO inverter, unless it is an add on by previous owner just for the TV
if you have that..it could be anywhere..
my best estimate.. you do not have an inverter
only generator or shore power for 120v

Many older coaches don't have a transfer switch at all.
They have an "into the coach plug" that you either plug in the shore power cord or the genny cord.
Heck, I once looked at a late '90's damon daybreak that was set up like this!

most RVs the transfer switch is an automatic relay
that choses shore power or generator , when one of the
two is available

some RVs have a female outlet in the cord compartment.. to use the generator the cord must be plugged into the female outlet
this is a manual full proof method

and some other RVs (1978 kings highway) you have a manual switch at the circuit breaker power panel, you can choose shore power or generator but NOT both

It may be something else, but the fact that the engine charges the batteries is exactly what mine did. The Transfer Switch on my coach is located in the compartment with the shore power line...I have no idea if they all locate them in the same place.

To switch from shore power to Genny, do you have to unplug shore and plugin genny? If not, you probably have an Auto Transfer switch. Look in your elec compartment for where the shore comes in for the ATS. It could be bad.

INVERTER: converts Direct Current electricity (usually 12 or 24 VDC) to Alternating Current electricity (usually 110/120 VAC 60 Hertz).
CONVERTER: converts Alternating Current electricity (usually 110-120VAC 60 Hz) to Direct Current (usually 12 or 24 VDC)
MOST RVs will have a CONVERTER installed. SOME RVs have INVERTERS.
