Well, I need help.. went out today to hook up my coach battery-fully charged but unknowingly, did not have one of the 3 neg connectors attached to battery. So when I went into the coach to get power on nothing happened. I tried the generator and it came on for a second before it gave out.Relooked at battery, noticed the third wire was off, reconnected, tried everything again- generator turned on and runs but nothing in RV works- fridge, a/c etc... yet it reads 120 v coming into the outlets, etc..Any thoughts?? Thanks

Circuit breaker. Some things like refrig and heater have additional 12v control circuits that are needed to work. Refrig can cool on 110v, but requires 12v to operate controls. As you had 12v disconnected, check there.

Tripped circuit breaker that feeds the converter. I would turn off all circuit breakers applying light pressure toward off, then turn main on, then each branch breaker on one at a time.Still not working, test the reverse polarity fuses in the converter if equipped.Test the main fuse in the 12 volt DC distribution panel.What kind of rig are we dealing with?

The rig is a 2009 Jayco 28 QB Sport. I checked the circuit breaker when it first happened and nothing looked like it was tripped. I will go through as you have suggested and see what happens. Again, I have a volt meter plugged into an outlet and when the generator is on it reads great. But when I checked at the command center for battery level, nothing registers.Would it help if I plug into shore power and see what happens?

the genset is showing good enough to indicate that the converter is either not putting out or the DC side has an open connection or blown fuse.Have you checked for a tripped GFCI receptacle that could be feeding the converter/

Do you have a multimeter? Could you measure the battery voltage with the genny off, then on?Do your lights work?Are you sure you hooked up the battery correctly?

Had similar problem arise, I found a loose connection to one side of one fuse holder, fuse was OK.

PHEW!!!

At a minimum, take all the NEGATIVE cables and tape them together. Ideally with a color of tape that you'll identify with Negative. I use BLACK. Then repeat with all the POSITIVE cables. I use RED.

Our Jayco battery wiring was a rats' nest. I found corrosion in some of the terminal crimps and had to re-do several. It isn't pretty but it's now functional and I can get the battery out and back without major incident.

I found the issue- and what a dope I was. I had a one positive connected to the negative terminal. Thank God it wasn't the other way around. Thanks for all the input.

Looks like you have no 12 volts. The microwave is about the only thing that doesn't require 12v.

The 12v is protected by fuses, not circuit breakers. You will have to check for voltage on both sides of the fuses in the fuse panel. If there is no voltage there then there is a problem with a fuse or circuit breaker or connection between the fuse panel and the battery and converter.

I'll have to check tomorrow- getting dark here. With the genny running- no lights, no a/c no fridge. The microwave did work though. Nothing is tripped in the circuit board.
