The converter is behind the wiring and fuses (right side) of the bottom photo. I replaced mine with a Progressive Dynamics PD4645 upgrade kit. It has the smart charge wizard. The kit fits very nicely. I unsoldered some of the wires as they were not very long and didn't want to just cut them and make them shorter.
In the second picture to the right of the battery....that circuitry (I believe) is the isolator that prevents electrical use in the house part from draining charge from the chassis (engine) battery. It also has the relay that allows the engine alternator to charge up the house batteries when you are driving. It may also have a relay that allows you to use the house battery to start the engine if the engine battery is dead. Very handy feature.
Other more knowledgeable persons may have a better explanation or corrections.
