Eternalbond on Slideout?

I would like to have the RV dealer put some Eternabond the whole way across on the slideout and he said he never did it before and was sort of questioning it. He's used it on the roof before. See any issues?

In the red is where I would like to start going across.
It would start on the metal then go to the roof which is sort of a rubber material.

  • My slide has it on from the factory as well. 5 yrs and no sticking or mess.
  • Great points on the bead of caulking on the edge. I will have them do that on the edge. I worked with the stuff before on our old trailer, even have the metal roller but was not as clean finish as when they did it. Takes practice to unroll the stuff and applying without getting air pockets.
  • This is strange as my Columbus came with it from the factory on the three slides. I think it is important to have a bead of caulking on the edge.
  • If the rubber gasket catches on the edge of the Eternabond as the slide closes, there will be quite a mess to take care of. So be sure to have a bead of caulk along the edge of the Eternabond to act as a ramp as the gasket slides over the edge. And it is doubly important in this application to make sure the slide roof is cleaned properly for the Eternabond and that the Eterabond is firmly rolled with a metal roller.

Yes and I would look at the bottom of the sides to see if adding the same there where it wraps under may be necessary.
  • My Jayco has it there from the factory. It would be a good place for it. I see no negatives only positives.
