We cycle tour in Europe every other year and with a simple adapter which accepts the NA 120V prongs, all of our electronic gear which includes battery chargers, iPhone, iPad, Garmin charges seamlessly due to each one having their own transformer. The only thing we did differently after our first tour when my wife brought her hair dryer from home and we had to buy a bulky 50W-2000W transformer to use the thing, is buy a French 220V hairdryer which is used every day. Now this transformer would work if you are using an RV and you have brought some of your own 120V appliances with you, but lugging a heavy chunk of metal(transformer) over mountain passes isn't fun.
Just one other comment, the Swiss adapter will fit in the standard european socket but the reverse is not the case.
Since we started cycle touring 14 years ago, there has been an explosion of all different kinds of RV's in Europe replacing many of the large family tents which used to be so common.
