I've been involved with RVs for over 60 years, have owned trailers, fifth-wheels and motorhomes. I've always done all I've been able to do to properly maintain my rigs. That said, anyone who's been around RVs knows that quality control is one of the biggest failings of the industry. How many of us would buy a passenger car if we knew we had to take a brand new car home and then spend hours and more money to fix flaws that should never have been passed on to the customer? it's great that some owners have the ability and skills to take care of these issues, but what about those who don't? The RV industry badly needs to produce products that are properly built, inspected, and problems corrected BEFORE they are delivered to the customer. I've been in so many brand new rigs at RV shows that have missing components, sawdust in every light fixture and gouges in the flooring where a mis-aligned slide damaged the brand new linoleum or carpet. As consumers we are far too willing to accept this level of quality from RV manufacturers.
